What is ICM?
A limited period of study or traineeship abroad (in the framework of ongoing studies at a home institution) for which credits are obtained.

From 3 to 12 months.

Financial support
Students coming to Europe may receive a monthly contribution to their expenses abroad of between EUR 800 and EUR 900, depending on the cost of living in the host country, plus a travel contribution based on the distance from the sending to the receiving institution.

The mobility is possible at bachelor, master or doctorate level. To study abroad with Erasmus+, you must be registered in a higher education institution and enrolled in studies leading to a recognized degree. Home institution and the receiving institution must have an Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement. Period of study abroad must be relevant for degree-related learning, and be part of the study programme that applicant following. Applicant should go through selection process according to criteria developed by partner universities.

Academic recognition
Before the study abroad period you, your sending and receiving higher education institutions must sign a Learning Agreement for Studies to ensure a transparent and efficient preparation of the exchange abroad, as well as to agree on how activities successfully completed abroad will be recognized.

Academic mobility at the expense of the republican budget in 2020

(Requirements for participants in the academic mobility program at their own expense, international scholarship programs remain unchanged)

In accordance with the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 28, 2020 "On approval of the Plan for the implementation of the academic mobility program" KarU of the name of academician E.A. Buketova allocated funding to send 15 students to universities in Europe.

According to the letter of the Director of the DVPO No. 14-4 / 256-VN dated 22/04/2020, on the basis of the decision of the Republican Budget Commission No. 6 dated 02/04/2020. budgetary expenditures for the implementation of the external academic mobility program in 2020 are suspended.

According to the Rules of referral for study abroad, including within the framework of academic mobility, approved by order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 613 dated November 19, 2008 for study abroad, including within the framework of academic mobility, referral to study abroad within the framework of academic mobility at the expense of the republican budget is carried out by the authorized body in the field of education and educational organizations.

A Commission will be established to select candidates to be sent at the expense of the republican budget. The composition of the Commission will be approved by order of the authorized body in the field of education.

To participate in the competition for study abroad at the expense of the republican budget, applicants must submit the following documents:

- written consent of the parents, guardians, legal representatives of the applicant who has not reached the age of eighteen, for a period of more than 2 (two) months;;

- a document on the composition of the family, to confirm the large family of the student;

- a document confirming the absence of the student's parents (for the category of students related to orphans or students left without parental care (if any);

- a document confirming the student's disability (if any);

- a questionnaire of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan traveling abroad.

Submission of documents to the Embassy for obtaining a visa is carried out by the student independently.

To travel abroad for study, it is necessary to issue a long-term visa for the purpose of study, except for those countries to which visa-free entry is allowed for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Requirements for obtaining a visa for the purpose of study are posted on the website of the Embassy of the host country.

The process of considering documents for obtaining a visa takes from 14 to 120 working days, depending on the country of departure.

The embassies of leaving countries do not recommend buying air tickets before obtaining a visa.

Medical insurance

To obtain a visa to travel abroad, medical insurance is required

Requirements for health insurance and a list of recommended insurance companies are posted on the website of the Embassy of the host country and the host University. Medical insurance is issued for the entire period of stay in a foreign country.

Before you go to study

Before leaving for a foreign country it is necessary to get acquainted with the information for the citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan going abroad, placed on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

When leaving for a foreign country, a student must have a passport, travel documents, medical insurance, invitation, address and route to the place of residence in a foreign country, contact information of the receiving and sending University, contact information of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in a foreign country in hard copy and electronically.

Depending on the receiving University, at least 14 days before departure for training it is necessary to send the coordinator from the international office of the sending and receiving University and the coordinator of accommodation of the receiving University air ticket / train / bus ticket.

Arrival at the receiving universit

Upon arrival at the host University within three days, the student must inform the Department of International Cooperation of KarU named after Academician E.A. Buketov about his arrival and accommodation.

Attendance of meetings and events of orientation week, organized in each University before the beginning of the semester is important for the student. During these meetings international students receive important information about registration with the local police, registration of student cards, electronic registration for selected courses, etc. If you are late for orientation week, be sure to contact the international office of your host University for this information.

No more than 2 weeks after arriving at the receiving University and registering for courses at the receiving University, the student should amend the study agreement and send it to the sending University to agree on changes, if any.

After graduation

After graduation, the student must have a transcript from the receiving University. The transcript must be signed and stamped by the receiving institution of higher learning.

The transcript from the receiving University together with the application for the re-offset of the mastered credits must be submitted to the Registrar's Office (main building, 214 kab.) not later than three working days after the end of the terms of assignment by order of the Chairman of the Board - Rector.

Education at the expense of the republican budget means:

Every year, funding is allocated from the republican budget to cover the basic costs of studying abroad under the academic mobility program, such as round-trip flights, accommodation, visa fees and medical insurance according to established norms. Applications for participation in the competition for training under the academic mobility program at the expense of the republican budget are accepted at the beginning of the calendar year. What is Personal Learning?

Studying at the expense of personal funds means that all expenses related to tuition, accommodation, visa, medical insurance, flights, meals and other travel expenses are paid by the student independently.

I would like to express my gratitude to our university for organizing academic mobility with Shenyang University. Thanks to classes with native speakers, I learned a lot in a short time. Classes are held 2 times a week for 2 academic hours. Thanks to the classes, we improve our knowledge of grammar and learn a lot of interesting information about China. Despite the fact that the training takes place in a distance format and in the classroom of about 30 students, the competent approach of the teachers makes it possible to fully master the material and expand the vocabulary. In a grammar lesson, we learn grammatical constructions and develop pronunciation, and in regional studies we fill in the gaps in the history, geography and culture of China. With each lesson, I notice more and more progress in my knowledge.

Academic mobility through the eyes of a student.

Academic mobility opens up new opportunities, its benefits, like no other, are felt by students studying foreign languages.

Karagandy University of the named of academician E.A.Buketov maintains and develops cooperation with higher educational institutions of other cities and countries, even in the context of a global pandemic.

So, for the entire first semester of the current academic year, ten second and third year students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, in addition to studying the main disciplines of their specialties, twice a week study for several hours online with teachers from Shenyang University of the PRC.

Two disciplines are being studied: grammar of the Chinese language and regional studies of the PRC. The teachers have extensive experience, in the classroom it is never boring, during the study there is a complete immersion in the language environment and culture. The lessons use a variety of teaching methods and techniques, paying attention to listening, reading and practical conversation. Homework is done both in writing and orally. In addition to online meetings, we are in touch with teachers every day! We receive feedback on the homework done.

We, the students, are very grateful that even without the opportunity to travel to China, we gain knowledge and experience of communicating with native speakers. We have further plans for learning the language, but at the moment nothing depends on us. Time will tell how the world behaves.

    Erasmus + International credit mobility projects

    Erasmus+ funds short-term mobility of students and staff of universities. Students at bachelor, master or doctoral level can study or do an internship in Europe for a period from three months (or one academic term or trimester), up to a maximum of 12 months and may benefit from an Erasmus+ grant.

    HEI staff can spend a teaching and/or training period abroad for up to two months and may also benefit from a grant.

    Within the framework of the Programme both incoming and outgoing mobility flows are possible.

    Dear Colleagues!

    Our new partner - The Romanian-American University has the pleasure to announce launching a new edition of RAU Guest Courses Program for the academic year 2020-2021.

    The program intends to open a collaboration window by welcoming guest professors from our partner universities to give lectures, courses, workshops, or seminars in the following fields:

    ·         Computer Science

    ·         Business Administration

    ·         Economics

    ·         Tourism

    ·         Management

    ·         Marketing

    ·         Law

    ·         Sports

    ·         Kinesiology

    The program is in line with our “Internationalisation at home” strategy, that aims to bring an international dimension to our non-mobile students, by welcoming foreign professors and practitioners from our partner universities and institutions, to share their knowledge and expertise.

    All teaching activities will be organized online, using Microsoft Teams.

    Program details:

    For a higher impact, the guest courses program is organized during the teaching period of the academic year:

    ·         for the fall semester: between October 15 and December 15

    ·         for the spring semester: between March 1 and May 15

    The courses are usually planned as one-week intensive classes, of 8 to 12 teaching hours (our suggestion is to plan an intensive course for 4/5 days, 2-2.5 hours/day).

    The professors interested in participating should submit their proposals of titles and content for the course. We recommend planning a general course, open to a diversity of participants (since this is going to be an extra-curricular course, it will be open to all our students, therefore the students might have different backgrounds).

    1. Partner Universities will nominate students via the e-nomination form.
    1. All nominees will receive guidelines on how to apply online at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki system by submitting all requested documents.
    1. After the deadline of applications, all applications will be evaluated by the Erasmus+ International Coordinators of our Schools and Faculties. The Coordinators will evaluate the students’ academic performance, their language level as well as their learning agreement.
    1. The Selection Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Department will decide who will be granted a mobility according to the criteria set and the number of available mobilities per country.
    1. Partner Universities will be sent the list of selected and non-selected applicants.

    From our University it is possible to nominate up to 5 applicants.


    The Erasmus + program provides a monthly scholarship and reimbursement for round trip flights (see the table below for details).

    Knowledge of English at a level of at least B2 is required.

    Sur-Place Scholarship

    General information

    Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF) announces a local scholarship Sur-Place to support talented young people in a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

    Who can participate?

    To be a scholar of Foundation you have to be a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who is studying full-time at one of the universities in Kazakhstan and who passed selection procedure. The award of scholarships in the last year of study is possible in exceptional cases. At the time of applying for a scholarship the applicant must not be older than 30 years.

    The advantage in the competitive selection is given to students participating in the socio-political life of the country and having an active life position. Knowledge of a foreign language is welcome, but not required.

    Scholarship terms

    The scholarship will be awarded for 6 months (with the possibility of extension).

    Competitive selection process

    Future scholars of the KAF will pass a two-stage competitive selection process: submission of a package of documents and an interview.
