WINTER SCHOOL "ACADEMIC FORESIGHT: LEADERSHIP STRATEGIES AND EDUCATIONAL INNOVATIONS – 2026"
Today, January 13, 2026, the Winter School "Academic Foresight: Leadership Strategies and Educational Innovations – 2026" opened at Karaganda National Research University named after Academician E.A. Buketov. The school aims to develop a management culture and implement modern educational approaches in the university environment.Professor Nurlan Orynbasarovich Dulatbekov, Chairman of the Board and Rector of the University, Doctor of Law, welcomed the participants. In his address, he emphasized the importance of strategic academic leadership in the context of the transformation of higher education and the strengthening role of universities in regional development.Madina Maksimovna Umurkulova, Member of the Board for Academic Affairs and Vice-Rector, also spoke at the opening, presenting the key guidelines of the university's new academic policy and outlining the global development horizons of the national research university.The first day of the Winter School focused on the vector of transformation—regulatory changes and educational technologies. Plenary sessions were held on the new architecture of qualification requirements, the implementation of the university's strategy in educational programs, the role of departments in shaping academic reputation, and the standards of the Registrar's Office. Representatives of the university's management and academic community delivered presentations.In the afternoon, participants participated in intellectual transfer sessions, which presented structural modeling practices, the experience of international research internships, the development of a culture of innovation in the academic environment, and global educational approaches.Participating in the Winter School were department heads, representatives of the university's administrative divisions, invited experts, and representatives of organizations in the real sector, the secondary education system, and government agencies. This combination of participants ensures an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented nature of the discussions.The Winter School will run until January 15, 2026. In the following days, intensive courses and practical sessions are planned on the use of artificial intelligence in department management, academic ethics, developing a "graduate profile," developing partner ecosystems, and modern pedagogical design.The "Academic Foresight 2026" Winter School is an important step in implementing the university's strategic priorities and building a community of academic change leaders.
