From November 5 to 15, 2025, Associate Professor Ömer Faruk Ateş from Kastamonu University (Türkiye) is visiting the Karaganda National Research University named after аcademician Ye.A. Buketov within the framework of the “Orhun” academic exchange program among the member universities of the Union of Turkic Universities.
The “Orhun” program was launched in 2017 as one of the key initiatives of the Association of Turkic Universities under the Organization of Turkic States. It aims to foster academic cooperation, strengthen cultural, educational, and scientific ties among universities of the Turkic world, create a unified educational space, and promote student and faculty exchanges.
Since 2021, the permanent coordinator of the “Orhun” program has been Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan). Today, 102 universities from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye participate in the program.
Through the “Orhun” program, faculty members and students have the opportunity to study and work at partner universities, exchange experience, learn about the cultures and educational systems of other Turkic countries, and take part in joint academic and educational projects.
The visit of Associate Professor Ömer Faruk Ateş aims to enhance scientific cooperation and exchange of experience among scholars in the field of modern Turkic literature, as well as to strengthen partnership ties between Kastamonu University and the Karaganda National Research University named after аcademician Ye.A. Buketov.
Ömer Faruk Ateş holds a PhD in Turkish Language and Literature, specializes in modern Turkish and Azerbaijani literature, and is the author of several scientific works and monographs published in Türkiye, Kazakhstan, and other countries.
The visit program includes lectures, academic seminars, and meetings with faculty and students of the Faculty of Philology dedicated to issues of modern literary studies and cultural interaction among Turkic peoples. This visit will become an important step toward strengthening academic cooperation and cultural exchange between the universities.
