OPENING OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE ROOM

The Faculty of Foreign Languages at Karaganda Buketov University hosted the grand opening of a French language classroom, with the participation of a delegation from the Embassy of France in Kazakhstan.
The honored guests of the event were the Ambassador of France to Kazakhstan, Mr. Sylvain Guiaugue, and the Attaché for Education and University Cooperation, Greta Komur Thilloy.
During the ceremonial part of the event, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development E.Zh. Sarmurzin addressed the audience. He emphasized that the Faculty of Foreign Languages is a space where different cultures and languages converge, and that the development of diversity and international cooperation remains one of the university's key strategic priorities. A special place in this regard belongs to the French language, which is studied with great enthusiasm by the university's students.
In the welcoming speech, it was noted that the opening of the French language classroom is not merely the addition of a new room, but an important step in strengthening the cultural and educational ties between Kazakhstan and France. The university expressed its gratitude to the Embassy of France for supporting the initiative and contributing to the development of language education.
Ambassador Sylvain Guiaugue delivered a response speech, in which he noted that the new classroom symbolizes the meeting of two cultures and intellectual traditions rooted in respect for knowledge, openness, and dialogue. In his words, the French language is not only a means of communication, but also an opportunity to discover the world of literature, art, science, and creativity.
The Ambassador also highlighted the important role of universities in strengthening international ties and expressed confidence that the new classroom will become a place for academic projects, cultural initiatives, friendly exchange, and new opportunities for students.
Today, approximately 450 students are studying French at Buketov University. The new classroom is equipped with everything necessary for modern learning: books, visual materials, and an interactive whiteboard.
At the close of the meeting, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development E.Zh. Sarmurzin presented the guests with a Letter of Gratitude, a copy of the book "Karaganda Gulag in Black Pencil," and commemorative branded items.
The opening of the French language classroom has become yet another important step in developing international cooperation and strengthening the friendship between Kazakhstan and France.
