A SCIENTIST'S LIFE—A LEGACY FOR CENTURIES

On May 22, Buketov National University hosted an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founder of the Department of Geography, PhD in Geography, Professor Muratakhan Kozhakhmetovich.
The event was attended by Vice-Rector for Research E. M. Tazhbaev, Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Geography, university researchers and faculty, the professor's relatives, colleagues, and students, as well as students. During the meeting, Muratakhan Kozhakhmetovich's significant contribution to the development of Russian geography, his long-standing scientific work, and his pedagogical legacy were recognized.
E. M. Tazhbaev delivered a congratulatory speech. He shared his memories of the professor, particularly noting his wisdom, high human qualities, and unique career in science. A special scholarship named after Professor Muratakhan Kozhakhmetovich was established at the conference to preserve and promote the legacy of this scientist, who dedicated his life to science. The recipients were Imangali Mämetov and Nurgasyr Temirzhan, students of the Faculty of Biology and Geography, as well as the Saryarka Tourism Club. This award was a sign of respect for the scientist's work and an important support for young people striving for knowledge and scientific research.
The conference continued with breakout sessions. Participants discussed current issues in economic and social geography, the physical geography of Kazakhstan and adjacent territories, geography teaching methods, and biodiversity and the conservation of rare species. Scientists and young researchers exchanged views on new research areas and pressing issues in modern science.
This informative and inspiring meeting served as a shining example of dedication to science, respect for teachers, and the continuity of generations. The scientific path and worthy life of Professor Muratakhan Kojakhmetovich will undoubtedly serve as a guide for young researchers for many years to come.
