A FRENCH ANTHROPOLOGIST IS CONDUCTING A SEMINAR FOR ARCHAEOLOGY STUDENTS
A practical seminar for archaeology students from the Faculty of History is being held at the Saryarka Archaeological Institute at Karaganda National Research University named after Academician E. A. Buketov from March 10 to 13, 2026.The seminar's topic is "Human Remains in an Archaeological Context. The Role of Physical Anthropology in the Study of Funerary Monuments." The speaker is anthropologist Elodie Lassalle, a representative of EVEHA INTERNATIONAL (France).The seminar program includes theoretical and practical sessions devoted to the study of funerary practices and bioarchaeological research methods. The course examines theoretical approaches to burial analysis, issues of general human anatomy and osteology, methods for determining sex and age from skeletal remains, taphonomic processes, as well as burial methods and cultural characteristics of funerary rites.The seminar will help expand students' professional knowledge and develop international scientific and educational collaboration in the fields of archaeology and physical anthropology.
