A briefing was held at Karaganda Buketov University with the participation of Miras Zhienbaev, a leading expert in the Department of European and American Studies of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KISS), students and faculty of the university.
The young teacher’s track record is quite extensive: in 2018 and 2019, he was awarded a special Scopus Awards Kazakhstan award in the “Best Scopus Journey” category by Elsevier Kazakhstan. In addition, Miras became the youngest member of the Young Researchers Alliance and the winner of the Alliance Prize in 2019 as the author of the best proposals for the reform of Kazakhstani science.
Miras Zhienbaev is one of the most cited academic economists (H-index Scopus = 3, H-index Google Scholar = 5), and is the author of leading expert analytical and academic publications on economics and foreign policy.
In 2023, KazISS published a monograph by M. Zhienbaev “Widening the Scope: How Middle Powers are Changing Liberal Intuitionalism” - one of the largest academic publications on the theory of international relations. The preface to this monograph was written by the Founding President of Nazarbayev University, Shigeo Katsu. The book was distributed within the framework of the first Central Asian Forum on Security and Cooperation (Astana, July 13-14, 2023) among leading intellectuals in the field of foreign policy, economics, public administration, diplomats and representatives of the academic community from more than 25 countries.
The monograph became part of the collection of the UN Library and Archives in Geneva - the world's largest center of academic knowledge on multilateralism, containing a fund of 11 thousand publications in a single copy. Miras Zhienbaev became the youngest author whose academic work is considered part of this collection.
During the briefing, the speaker gave advice on publications in scientific and rating publications, spoke about joint projects with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the comfort zone, etc.
In the final part of the event, students and teachers had the opportunity to ask the guest questions in three languages: Kazakh, Russian, English and receive comprehensive answers to them.
