The Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology trains highly qualified specialists in mathematics, mechanics, digital technologies and robotics for education, science and business. The Faculty offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, a trilingual education program, and a dual degree program. Graduates of the faculty are in demand and successfully work in educational schools, educational institutions of technical and vocational education, universities, business structures, scientific organizations, IT companies.
The faculty consists of 4 departments: "Mathematical Analysis and differential equations", "Professor T.G. Mustafin Algebra, Mathematical Logic and Geometry Department", "Methods of teaching Mathematics and Computer Science", "Applied Mathematics and Computer Science".
The Faculty is equipped with multimedia, computer and linguaphone cabinet, specialized educational laboratories, and Wi-Fi zones. There is an IT Competence Center, a research laboratory "Robotics and intelligent machine".
Dates and facts
History
The Faculty of Mathematics was established in 1972. The first dean of the faculty was PhD, Associate Professor Tasbolat Smatov. The formation and development of the faculty is associated with the names of specialists who have worked since the opening - S.B.Baymurzin, K.M.Makhmetov, N.T.Mochernyuk, V.N.Nam, M.A.Perevertun, N.P.Kostrikina, N.A.Almukhanbetov, T.G.Mustafin, E.S.Smailov and others.
The faculty opened the specialty "Mathematics", subsequently "Applied Mathematics" (1996), "Mechanics" (1997), "Information Systems" (2004), "Mathematical and Computer Modeling" (2011) – "Mathematics-Informatics", "Mathematics-Physics", "Information systems and Technologies" (in the period from 2018 to 2019), "Robotics and Mechatronics" (2022), Software Engineering (2023) educational doctoral programs "Mathematics", "Digital Pedagogy" (2020), "Mechanics" (2023).
Students:
The educational programs of the faculty are in demand among applicants. Over the past three years, their number has increased almost one and a half times. Today, 1463 people study at the faculty, of whom 80.5% are holders of educational grants. Among those enrolled in the faculty there are those with the "Altyn Belgi" badge, winners of international Olympiads, international competition of scientific projects. The faculty trains foreign students from countries such as Mongolia, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Germany, as well as students from many regions of Kazakhstan: West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Aktobe, Pavlodar.
Teachers:
The Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology currently employs 87 teachers, including doctors, candidates, masters of Sciences, holders of the republican title of "Best University Teacher", corresponding members of the International Academy of Informatization, holders of the A.Nobel Medal for contribution to the development of invention. At the moment, 12 faculty members are studying for doctoral studies, 4 teachers are in postdoctoral studies.
Employment:
The employment rate of graduates of the faculty is 90%.
