Assessment of students' knowledge in current, midterm control, intermediate, and final attestation is carried out using a letter-based rating system for recording academic achievements according to Appendices to the Standard Rules for the Activities of Higher and (or) Postgraduate Education Organizations:
Current, intermediate, and final assessment of students is carried out in accordance with the assessment criteria specified in the syllabi of disciplines, final attestation programs, and the university LMS.
The current performance assessment of students is conducted according to the approved class schedule during the semester and involves systematic knowledge checks of students according to the syllabus topics of the discipline.
Grades for current performance assessment are systematically recorded by the instructor in the electronic gradebook.
Midterm control is conducted for the discipline twice during the semester in weeks 6-8 and 12-14 according to the academic calendar and involves assessing students' knowledge after completing a specific module (section) of the discipline.
Midterm control grades (M1 and M2) are recorded once by the instructor in the electronic gradebook within the corresponding deadlines.
Assignments for different types of student achievement control, their format, and assessment are determined by the instructor independently and reflected in the course syllabi.
The average current assessment grade is calculated as the arithmetic mean of all current grades for the semester. The average midterm control grade is calculated as the arithmetic mean of M1 and M2 results.
The admission rating consists of the average current assessment grades and the average grades of two midterm controls in a 72×28 ratio.
To obtain an admission rating for the final control of the discipline (exam), the student must have:
The admission rating for the final control of the discipline (exam) must be at least 50 points according to the letter-based rating system for recording students' academic achievements.
The grade for the coursework (if the final control for the discipline includes an exam and coursework) is recorded in the university's information system and serves as the basis for admission to the final control for the discipline.
Coursework/projects provided by the educational program curriculum must be defended and assessed before the start of the examination session and must be checked for plagiarism.
Intermediate attestation (examination session) is conducted according to the approved exam schedule within the deadlines set by the academic calendar.
Intermediate attestation includes students taking an exam on the studied discipline, defending coursework (projects), and reports on professional practice/internship, scientific research work/experimental research work with mandatory grade recording.
Students with an admission rating of at least 50 points are allowed to pass the intermediate attestation. Students who do not have a positive admission rating are not allowed to take the final control for the discipline (exam).
Students who do not have a positive grade for coursework are not allowed to take the exam for the corresponding discipline.
The level of students' academic achievements in each discipline is determined by the final grade, formed from the following indicators:
The final grade for the discipline is determined by the following weights:
Средняя оценка по текущему контролю: \( \overline{O_{cc}} \)
Средняя оценка по рубежному контролю: \( \overline{O_{mc}} \)
Оценка за экзамен: \( O_{exam} \)
Final Grade Formula:
Ofinal = Occ × 0.43 + Omc × 0.17 + Oexam × 0.4
A student who has missed 50% of class schedule hours without a valid reason is not allowed to take the exam, regardless of the quality of their current assignments.
A student who has missed 60 or more cumulative hours during an academic period is expelled due to loss of connection with the university.
If a student receives an "Unsatisfactory" grade ("F") for the exam results, it is final for this academic period, regardless of the admission rating for the discipline. The final grade for the discipline is not calculated in this case. The student is re-enrolled in this course within the summer semester on a paid basis, attends all types of classes, completes academic assignments according to the study program, and retakes the final control for the discipline.
If a student receives an "Unsatisfactory" grade ("FX") for the exam results, the student has the opportunity to retake the final control (exam) once on a paid basis within the same intermediate attestation period without repeating the course program. If the student receives an "FX" again after retaking the exam, an academic debt is formed, which must be cleared within the summer semester on a paid basis.
Annually, upon completion of the academic year, master's and doctoral students undergo academic attestation regarding the fulfillment of their individual work plan. The reporting materials include a supervisor's characteristic with an assessment of the work performed, a student report, and the conclusion of the graduating department.
