The department trains citizens of Uzbekistan, Russia, Germany, and Azerbaijan. The Department has a Youth Entrepreneurship Center, which includes a business laboratory, a coworking center, and an office of applied economics and business. The work of the Center was marked by the active participation and victories of students in the international program of social and business projects "ENACTUS", victories in hackathons, competitions of startup projects, financing of startups.

The scientific interests of the department are related to the study of the institutional foundations of ensuring the competitiveness of the economy of Kazakhstan and solving socio-economic problems, the development of entrepreneurship, innovation.

History:
The Department "Economics and International Business" was founded in 1993 on the basis of the departments "Economic Geography and Industrial Economies "(from 1978 to 1989), "Economics and Planning of Industries and territories" (from 1989 to 1993). In 2011, it was merged with the Department "Economic Theory».

Students:
The department trains 216 people, including holders of state grants, the Altyn Belgi symbol, representatives of other regions of Kazakhstan, citizens of Uzbekistan, Russia.

The employment rate of graduates of the department is 95%.

Teachers:
The department employs doctors, candidates, masters of Science, practitioners with extensive work experience. PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Asanova M.K. completed a scientific internship at Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh, UK) under the Bolashak-500 Scientists program.

The department has a dissertation council for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy PhD in the program 8D04101-Economics.

The Department of Economics and International Business plays a key role in the development of scientific research and educational activities aimed at in-depth study of various aspects of economics and international business. The main areas of work of the department cover the study of the institutional foundations of ensuring the competitiveness of the economy of Kazakhstan, the analysis of socio-economic problems, the development of entrepreneurship, the study of macro- and microeconomic processes, international trade, as well as the introduction of innovative technologies and digitalization of business processes.

The department actively cooperates with various public and private structures, developing projects aimed at supporting economic growth and modernizing the business environment. Teachers and students of the department take an active part in the creation of new business models, explore international economic trends and develop solutions that can be adapted to the dynamically developing economy of Kazakhstan. In addition, the department pays special attention to the analysis of global economic changes, which helps students and scientists to better understand current trends and challenges of international business.

One of the important activities of the department is the holding of scientific conferences and seminars that promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between scientists and practitioners at both national and international levels. Within the framework of these events, topical issues of economics, innovation and digital technologies are discussed, which allows to broaden the horizons of participants and contribute to the development of scientific thought.

The program is related to the study of economic, analytical, consulting, financial, accounting services and firms in various fields of activity. During the training, the student will learn how to solve economic and entrepreneurial problems using modern information technologies, work with Big Data and blockchain technologies. Graduates receive a bachelor's degree in information and communication technologies and can work as CEOs, CVO, CIOIT companies, heads of IT security department, R&D managers, MVP managers, IT dispatchers, digital coaches, executive directors of IT security, economists-programmers in software companies in high-tech industries, in research organizations, as well as in other enterprises.

6B11202 - HR: Labor Economics and Safety: bachelor's degree. The program is interdisciplinary, the training is carried out jointly with the Faculty of Physics. The program is related to the study of personnel policy, labor relations, labor protection and safety. The training is carried out jointly with the Department of Accounting and Auditing and the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology. The program is associated with the application of statistical and econometric methods necessary for accounting, collection, summary, grouping, generalization, analysis of data, identification of patterns and cause-effect relationships between them, modeling and forecasting of socio-economic phenomena and processes at the level of enterprises, industries and the economy, at the international level. In the course of training, the student will learn how to calculate economic and socio-economic indicators using software; process arrays of economic and statistical data in accordance with the task using Big Data, build econometric models of the studied processes, phenomena and objects related to the field of professional activity, analysis and interpretation of the results; prepare statistical information reviews, analytical reports; manage small teams formed to implement a specific economic project.
