The department offers educational programs for bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies.
The department trains psychologists specializing in practice-oriented areas. A psychologist is necessary in all spheres of life where people interact with each other, whether it is psychological support in organizations, law enforcement agencies, or at the level of ordinary human relationships. Specialists with a psychologist's education can deal with counseling, diagnostics, and conduct various trainings.
Students of the department have the opportunity to study along the following trajectories: "Psychology", "Clinical Psychology", "Psychology of Education".
Students will gain specialized knowledge in legal, social, medical and many other areas. The students of the department have access to the world's most advanced information resources, databases of periodicals and scientific literature.
Graduates of the specialty work in education and science, medicine and diagnostics, business and management, law enforcement and many others. Among the graduates of the department are business trainers, psychologists of the DKNB, DUIS, specialists in the selection of personnel, employees of medical organizations and neuropsychiatric dispensaries, successful psychologists-consultants with private practice, trainers and coaches who help people achieve personal and professional growth.
The field of scientific interests of the department covers a wide range of modern psychological areas and is aimed at solving urgent problems: psychological diagnostics and counseling, cyber psychology and psychology within the framework of information security, problems of medical psychology, etc.
The Department of Psychology has a psychological service that provides personal consultations and trainings for students.
Dates and facts
History:
The formation and development of the Department of Psychology dates back to 1990 and is associated with the name of Satybaldy Mukataevich Dzhakupov. In the same year, the first set was made. The first group of psychologists was trained in Kazakh and Russian languages.
Students:
Over the past five years, the number of students in the department has increased by 60.5%. The department trains students from the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and different regions of Kazakhstan.
Employment:
The employment rate of graduates of the department is 75%.
Teachers:
Today, the department employs 25 teachers, including doctors, candidates and masters of psychology, holders of the republican title "The best teacher of the university": Amirova B.A., Sabirova R., S., Zhanserikova D.A., Alimbaeva R.T., Slanbekova G.K.
Educational programs:
The department carries out training of specialists in the program "Clinical Psychology" jointly with the Medical University of Karaganda.
Accreditation and Leadership:
All programs of the department have national accreditation and are among the top three according to the version of the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education: in 2020, the program "Psychology" (bachelor's degree) took 2nd place, the master's program "Psychology" - 3rd place.

The department maintains cooperation with foreign research centers: Moscow State University named after M.V. M.V. Lomonosov (Russia), Institute of Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology, Moscow (Russia), St. Petersburg State University (Russia), Barnaul State Pedagogical University (Russia), Tomsk State University (Russia), International Academy of Psychological Sciences Yaroslavl (Russia), Tashkent State Pedagogical University. Nizami (Uzbekistan), University. A. IonnaCuza, Yasi (Romania). Cooperation with Warsaw Polytechnic University, Lyon University is planned.
Educational programs
6B03106 - «Psychology»: Bachelor's degree. The program is aimed at training practical psychologists for work in the fields of education, health care, law, business and entrepreneurship, the social sphere, competent and in-demand psychological services on the market, capable of effectively solving psychological problems using modern methods of psychodiagnostics, psychocorrection, psychoconsulting. Graduates of the program will receive a bachelor's degree in psychology and will be able to work as practical psychologists in educational institutions, correctional centers.
7M03104 - «Psychology»: Master's degree. The program focuses on the study of disciplines related to the field of research and psychology in higher education. Undergraduates will be offered to study the psychology and pedagogy of higher education, innovative tendencies of modern psychology, current problems of psychological science in Kazakhstan, modern methods of statistics in psychology, methods of teaching psychology at the university. Graduates receive a master's degree in psychology and will be able to teach at a university, engage in research activities, and work as a practical psychologist.
8D01102 - «Psychology of Education»: Doctoral studies. The content of the program provides an in-depth study of the methodological and theoretical foundations of psychology, the development of abilities for scientific research and the implementation of research projects, the development of modern research methods and technologies in the direction of the educational program, the development and formation of skills in scientific and pedagogical activities. The result of training should be a doctoral dissertation written under the guidance of domestic and foreign consultants. Graduates of the program receive a PhD in philosophy and can teach at the university, engage in research activities.
