The "Practical course of foreign language" department was formed in January 2023 with the aim of optimizing the educational process and is focused on the practical component of training specialists in foreign languages.

The department has a teaching staff in several foreign languages. Practical English is taught for students of the 1st year of the educational program 6B01705 – Foreign language: two foreign languages.

In addition, in September 2024, the department introduced two innovative educational programs: 6B01709-Foreign Languages (English) and 6B01708-English Language.

French, German, Turkish, and Chinese are taught as a second foreign language for students of the following educational programs:

6B01705 – Foreign language: two foreign languages

6B02303 - Foreign Philology

6B02301 –TranslationStudies

6В01709-Foreign languages (English).

Qualified teaching staff who have completed internships in the countries of the studied languages and have international certificates confirming a high level of proficiency in foreign languages provide the educational process.

Dates and facts

The department employs foreign specialists in the field of foreign language education: Turkish language teachers Asuman Ergun (Hacettepe University, Turkey), Çidem Bekar Kurt (Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey), Burak Korkmaz (Ankara Hazi Bayram Veli University, Turkey), English teacher John Maruschak (USA, US Embassy in Kazakhstan English Language Fellow program) and French teacher Helene Garnier (National Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures, Paris, France), who teach classes in the second foreign language.

The department closely cooperates with international organizations represented by the French Alliance of Karaganda, the Goethe Institute, and the Embassy of Turkey in Kazakhstan. Various events are jointly organized in order to attract students' interest in learning several foreign languages and familiarization with foreign-language cultures.

Currently, the department's staff pays great attention to creating a high-quality base of educational and methodological supportthat continues to develop educational and methodological complexes in the department's disciplines, includingthe author's printed and electronic publications.
