On June 10, on the basis of Astana IT University, a meeting of rectors, vice-rectors and students of 25 regional universities participating in the Coursera project in Kazakh was held with Jeff Majoncald, Chief Executive Officer of Coursera. The event was also attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, who spoke about the importance of teaching online courses and gave a lecture on this topic. Recall, at the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Karaganda University Buketov was issued 1,500 licenses to pass "Coursera" in the Kazakh language.
To date, 1,500 students of the university have already successfully mastered them. The university students enrolled in courses of 501 titles – 80 courses in Kazakh and Russian and 421 courses in English. Out of 1,500 students who signed up for the courses, 40 received 1 certificate
