On March 26, a scientific and educational event titled “Buketov’s Day in Washington” was held at one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, George Washington University, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Academician Yevney Arystanuly Buketov. The event took place in the School of Business building and consisted of two parts:“A Remarkable Figure: Buketov” scientific and educational seminar An Iftar organized in connection with the 27th day of the Holy month of Ramadan.Participants of the EventThe event was attended by the leadership and professors of the George Washington University School of Business, representatives of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the United States, the President and members of the Kazakh-American Association, members of the Kazakh intellectual community in the US, students of Academician Buketov, alumnuses of Buketov University, scholars from the “Bolashak” international program in Washington and Los Angeles, Kazakhstan's special representatives and experts working in international organizations in the US, as well as Kazakhstani nationals working in the business sector of Washington, D.C.Scientific and Educational SeminarDuring the opening ceremony of the seminar, Dr. Vanessa Perry, Dean of the School of Business at George Washington University, delivered a congratulatory and an inspiring speech about Academician Buketov’s scientific legacy.At the opening ceremony of the seminar, the Dean of the George Washington University School of Business, Dr. Vanessa Perry, who made a congratulatory speech, touched upon the scientific legacy of Academician Buketov, made a meaningful presentation, and impressed the participants with her mastery of information about the hero of the day.During the seminar, local scientists, specialists in the field of education and science, seminar moderator and graduates made informative and educational presentations about Academician Buketov and Buketov University.In addition to the speakers, the Deputy Dean of the George Washington University School of Business, Master of Finance, Professor of Finance - George M. Jabbour, and Professor of the Department of Decision Sciences at the School of Business, PhD Homayun Khamooshi, who were specially invited to the seminar, also actively participated and shared their opinions.In addition, other Kazakh scientists living in the United States, honored figures of Kazakhstan, the leader of the Kazakh diaspora in the United States, the President of the Kazakh-American Association, business professionals, and graduates of Buketov University also shared their thoughts about the eminent scientist.Iftar CeremonyThe second part of the event was the iftar, held in connection with the 27th night of the Holy Ramadan, which coincided with the sacred Night of Qadr. Over 70 people attended the iftar. During the event, active participants were presented with branded products from Karaganda Buketov University, as well as two works by Medeu Sarseke about Academician Buketov, given as memorable gifts.
