BUKETOV UNIVERSITY STUDENTS MET WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS

Karaganda Research University named after academician E.A. Buketov was visited by the delegation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Central Asia represented by Ambassador Nico Schermers. The delegation also included: Aigul Kazenova, Senior Economic and Academic Diplomacy Officer; Daryn Amanzhan, Public Diplomacy and Communications Officer.

The foreign guests were accompanied by: Yerbol Sarmurzin, Member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development; Assylbek Zeynidenov, acting member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Research; Madina Umurkulova, acting member of the Board for Academic Affairs - Vice-Rector; Meirzhan Syzdykov, member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Socio-Cultural Development; Maryana Uspanova, Acting Head of the International Cooperation Department.

During the meeting the prospects and opportunities of bilateral cooperation between Buketov University and the Kingdom of the Netherlands were discussed. Each of the parties provided extended information about their activities. As it became known, the Kingdom of the Netherlands is a European state, which includes the mainland, located in Western Europe, and three islands in the Caribbean Sea - Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius. It covers an area of 41,543 km² (land - 33,888 km², water - 7,650 km²), with a population of over 17 million people.

The Netherlands is a highly developed country with the 16th largest economy in the world. The state has a highly developed market economy with an emphasis on innovation. The most developed industries are machine building, ferrous metallurgy, oil refining, electronic, chemical, food and textile industries. A special place in the structure of the country's economy is occupied by energy, agriculture (livestock and crop production). In addition, the Netherlands is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of vegetables and flowers and occupies 0.008% of the Earth's land area. The country is considered the world's second largest exporter of agricultural products, second only to the USA.

After the official part the Ambassador met with the students of the university. The students had an opportunity to ask questions about diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands, economic ties, academic mobility. After the presentation presented by Ambassador Nico Schermes elaborated on the issues related to the study of foreign students in Holland: student life, part-time work for students and work after graduation.

The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
