Regional Subject Olympiad in International Law

March 14, 2023 at Karaganda University named after Academician E.A. Buketov held the Regional Subject Olympiad in International Law. The Olympiad was held at the Faculty of Law, and the Department of Constitutional and International Law became the direct organizer. This is already the second Olympiad, which the Faculty of Law holds with the participation of the universities of the city. 5 teams from universities of Karaganda took part in the Olympiad. A total of 30 students took part.

The Program of the Olympiad notes that it is held in honor of the 160th anniversary of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the 30th anniversary of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Competitive tasks for knowledge of international humanitarian law and international criminal law also corresponded to these significant dates. The working languages of the Olympiad were oral answers in English, testing in Kazakh, case-study in Russian. It can be said that a fourth language was also used, because there were many tasks for knowledge of Latin legal terms. The students did an excellent job with the competition tasks. According to the results of the Olympiad, the winning teams and winners of the individual championship were awarded.

The first place was taken by the “Bona fide” team of Buketov University, the second place was taken by the team “Academic, 9” of the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, the third place was taken by the team “Erudite” of the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after B. Beisenov. In the individual championship, student Naushabayeva Aiganym (Buketov University) took the first place, student Karamanova Nurila (Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) took the second place, Abdirov Yergalym and Sarsembayeva Malika (Buketov University) took the third place.
