The hero of the day has a rich and eventful biography. After graduating from the Faculty of History of the Karaganda State University in 1977. At the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, he successfully defended his candidate's dissertation on the topic "Saryarka at the end of the Bronze Age", in which he substantiated the belonging of the Begazy-Dandybaevskaya culture to the community of roller ceramics cultures. He developed and substantiated the periodization of the monuments of the Begazy-Dandybaevskaya culture. He also participated in archaeological expeditions, organized and conducted research on the settlements of Lisakovskoye, Temirkash, Kent, burial grounds of Karagash, Dongal, Kyshtan, Tasyrbay, Enbek-Suigush, Dermen, etc. His attention was drawn to archaeological sites in the Karkaraly and Bukhar-Zhyrau districts of the Karaganda region. The main object of research in the Karkaraly district was the settlement of Kent, as well as synchronous settlements and burial grounds of the Kent archaeological microdistrict. Based on the analysis of the materials, Viktor Vasilyevich put forward and argued the hypothesis of the existence of cities in Central Kazakhstan during the Late Bronze Age, which arose as a result of the flourishing economy and progress of social relations in the Begazy-Dandybaev society, and established the presence of extensive ties between the Begazy-Dandybaev social elite and the population of Central Asia and Western Siberia. "You have taken part in more than 50 field expeditions, your scientific activity covers more than 40 archaeological sites, of which over 10 were discovered for the first time. In addition, you have created a huge source base, the materials of which are in demand in the scientific community of Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia and other countries. Each work is distinguished by deep analysis and an innovative approach to research issues, which allows you to find new solutions and implement advanced methods.
In this regard, I would like to note that your contribution to the development of the Faculty of History is invaluable. This is confirmed by numerous awards, including certificates of honor from the Rector and Akim of the Karaganda region. I can say with confidence that your work is passed down from generation to generation. Thanks to you and your discoveries, dozens of schoolchildren and students have fallen in love with archeology. I sincerely wish you good health and further success in your scientific work,” he said.
Among the participants of the event were also graduates of the Faculty of History from different years. According to them, thanks in large part to Viktor Vasilyevich, students leave the university armed not only with knowledge, but also with a sincere love for the profession. “Student years are the most wonderful time. And to return to the walls of my beloved university after so many years, to see all my teachers in good health – this is truly valuable.
