The III International Summer School for teachers from Eurasian countries took place in Almaty from September 10–12, 2024. The International Center for Rapprochement of Cultures organized it with assistance from UNESCO and the Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The school had university teachers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, France, and Germany. Olzhas Omarovich Suleimenov, who is in charge of the International Centre for the Rapprochement of Cultures under UNESCO's auspices, gave a speech to welcome everyone to the school.
Karaganda Buketov University was represented by Anna N. Kalizhanova and Tatyana Y. Shelestova from the Foreign Languages Faculty, as well as Marina V. Bedelbaeva, head of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography. "Digital storytelling as a transdisciplinary universal of transformative education: From truth to benefit," "Educational opportunities of the izi.travel platform for popularization and preservation of cultural heritage of Kazakhstan," and "Intercultural communication through the prism of historical and archaeological heritage of Saryarka"—a textbook for intercultural communication by Marina V. Bedelbaeva, Anna N. Kalizhanova, and Viktor A. Novozhenov (the certificate for including information in the State Register of Rights to Copyrighted Objects No. 49194 as of August 22, 2024)—were the topics of their talks and sparked a lot of interest among the people who attended the event.
On the third day, the field trip took place at the state historical and cultural museum-reserve "Yesik." The display of artifacts from the Issyk mound, the site of the famous "Golden Man" discovery in 1970, and the exploration of other archaeological sites by Kazakh and Chinese archaeologists highlighted the importance of safeguarding and examining Kazakhstan's historical and archaeological heritage.
We can improve the quality of education in Eurasian colleges by having useful conversations, making new friends, and forming partnerships. In this regard, all participants agreed with the suggestion that Karaganda Buketov University teachers should publish and use their textbook in the classroom, based on the results of the summer school.
All of the speakers got awards and thank-you letters from Olzhas Omarovich Suleimenov, as well as lasting memories and new ideas for their future work in science, education, and methodology.
