KAZAKHSTAN AND HUNGARY STUDY COMMON HISTORICAL ROOTS

Nurlan Dulatbekov, Rector of E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University, participated in the first founding meeting of the Kazakh-Hungarian Working Group on Science Diplomacy as a co-chair from the Kazakh side, Delovoy Kazakhstan

During the meeting the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation between the scientific institutions of Kazakhstan and Hungary in the field of history, archaeology, anthropology, as well as the military and memorial activities.

The rector of the Kazakhstan’s university emphasized that young scientists, PhD candidates and regular students of the two countries must be involved in order to intensify scientific interaction.

Lieutenant Colonel Roland Maruzs, deputy director of the Military Historical Museum of Hungary, in turn, noted that as part of the military memorial work the Hungarian side is interested in studying the archival documents of "Karlag" (one of the largest penal labor camps of the USSR), as well as working with Hungarian universities to study the historical roots of the two peoples.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in conducting joint activities and international scientific research, and outlined a plan for cooperation in 2023.
Nurlan Dulatbekov, within the framework of his working visit to Hungary, held talks with Dr. Maria Schmidt, general director of the "House of Terror" museum. He discussed cooperation in the sphere of museum business, as well as joint projects between the Karaganda Museum of victims of political repressions and the Hungarian Museum "House of Terror".
The issues of cooperation between Karaganda State University and leading universities of Hungary were discussed during the meeting with the General Secretary of the Rector's Conference of Hungary Dr. Dubéczi Zoltán.
