Gender Equality: Relevance, Challenges, and Prospects

As part of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of Buketov Karaganda University for the 2024-2025 academic year, the Faculty of Additional Education organized a seminar titled "Gender Policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan" on December 18-19, 2024. The program developer, Tatyana Alexandrovna Rezvushkina, a senior lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Sociology of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, justifies the relevance of the seminar by emphasizing the necessity of understanding gender equality issues as the fifth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all genders has become an international norm supported by the majority of countries worldwide. The seminar examined approaches to changing cultural attitudes towards the roles and behavioral stereotypes of women and men. Participants showed interest in the practices of ensuring gender equality in the Republic of Kazakhstan, focusing on creating conditions where women and men have equal access to education, employment, professional development, and participation in public life.
