ISSUES OF BILATERAL COOPERATION BETWEEN BUKETOV UNIVERSITY AND THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

Today, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the Karaganda Buketov Research University. It included: Cho Tae-ick, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kim Il-jung, Head of the Political Department; Park Ki-suk, Consul. The agenda included the issue of bilateral cooperation between the Karaganda Buketov Research University and the Republic of Korea. In particular, the Ambassador discussed with the rector N. O. Dulatbekov the prospects and possibilities of opening an office and courses for studying the Korean language, the purpose of which is to familiarize students with the traditions and culture of Koreans. N. O. Dulatbekov proposed an excellent site for opening a corner — a spacious library of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, which can be decorated in a national style. As an example, the rector cited the Korean cultural center located in Samarkand, where there are many attributes that clearly symbolize the traditions and customs of the Korean people. «However, we should not limit ourselves to culture alone; we also need to develop the research component so that the future office has a scientific approach», the rector believes. During the meeting, the issue of pharmaceuticals was also raised, since medicine is developing dynamically in Korea and the recently built technology park on the territory of Buketov University has the opportunity to use laboratories and sites for these purposes. Thanks to the opening of the Korean language office, students will have a unique opportunity to study the history of Korea, the Korean language, and conduct scientific research. In this regard, Karaganda Buketov University is an excellent and reliable partner. In turn, Cho Tae-ick thanked those present for their time, congratulated the university staff on being awarded the status of a research university, and also thanked them for their interest in studying the history of ethnic Koreans who have endured difficult trials. He assured those present that he would do everything possible to bring the planned project to life. In the final part of the event, the parties exchanged souvenirs. N. O. Dulatbekov presented the guests with his own book entitled «Japanese Prisoners of War in the Karaganda Region».
