On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to welcome you to join the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference of Silk Road Chemistry: Modern Chemical Technologies and Science in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. This conference holds dual significances: it serves as a platform for advancing chemical sciences and also stands as a tribute commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Е.А. Buketov.

This conference aims to establish a high-level international platform for exchange, focusing on the cutting-edge developments in modern chemical technologies and science. Through in-depth academic discussions, sharing of practical experiences, and the fruitful collision of ideas, we aspire to collectively explore the pivotal role of chemical science in promoting sustainable development and addressing global challenges (energy, environment, and new materials).

We are honored to host this conference in Karaganda. Karaganda is not only one of Kazakhstan's vital industrial, economic, and cultural centers but also a city with a profound academic heritage. Home to several renowned higher education institutions and research centers, including Karaganda Buketov University.

Finally, a hearty welcome to all the experts and scholars gathered here from around the globe! Let us embrace the “Silk Road” spirit of openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and mutual appreciation.

With kind regards,

The Karkaraly National Nature Park

The Karkaraly National Nature Park and the Karkaraly Mountains are true gems of the Saryarka region. The rich nature of the Karkaraly lands has attracted human attention since ancient times, as evidenced by the well-trodden caravan routes that once connected Central Asia with Europe.

In the second half of the 19th century, Karkaralinsk became an important center of trade, industry, culture, and education, serving as a crossroads for caravan routes linking Central Asia and China to Siberia.

The administrative center of the district, the city of Karkaralinsk, was officially founded in 1824. However, the history of the Karkaraly region stretches far beyond these 200 years. Archaeological evidence suggests that even the remains of some of the earliest predatory species on Earth – dinosaurs – have been discovered in this area.

The centuries-old history of Karkaraly is closely connected with the name of the great Kazakh educator Abai and his father, Kunanbai Oskenbaiuly, who served as the aga-sultan of the Karkaraly Uyezd.

From 1848 to 1930, the famous Koyandy Fair was held on the shores of Lake Karasor, north of Karkaralinsk, attracting merchants, artisans, and cultural figures from across the region.

Many prominent figures of Kazakhstan were born and gained recognition on this sacred land, including the wise judge and orator Kazybek bi; the celebrated singer Amre Kashaubayev, who introduced Kazakh song to the world stage; and the first Kazakh cosmonaut Toktar Aubakirov.
